Joshua 7:1
The Israelites, however, acted unfaithfully regarding the things devoted to destruction. Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart. So the anger of the Lord burned against the Israelites.
Note Forms of the Hebrew cherem refer to the giving over of things or persons to the Lord, either by destroying them or by giving them as an offering; also in verses 11, 12, 13, and 15.
Note Achan means troubler; also called Achar in 1 Chronicles 2:7.
Note Zabdi is a variant of Zimri; also in verses 17 and 18; see LXX and 1 Chronicles 2:6.
But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the Lord was kindled against the children of Israel.
Note Achan: also called, Achar
Note Zabdi: also called, Zimri
